Kyle MacDonald is on the mend after his horror head injury last month and was back in amongst the Accies squad this week. The 24-year-old defender, from East Kilbride, fractured his skull in a terrible collision with Alloa’s Miko Virtanen and has been ruled out for six months. But he is out of hospital and back at New Douglas Park to work on his recovery, and boss John Rankin says it is great to see him looking well.He said: “I went to Kyle’s house last Friday to see him and he was in really good spirits.“He is desperate to get back in the gym and do something because Kyle is one of these guys who can’t sit still, which is good.“But he needs to be cautious and take the doctor’s advice.“We know he is going to be out for up to six months, which we know is not ideal for him.“Mentally, he needs to be in amongst the players but he will need to take the medical advice on board.“We will need to make sure he isn’t doing too much too early, but we are delighted to see him in about the group again.“Tuesday was the first day he was back in and he was able to drive again.“He misses the boys in the dressing room and it is good to have him here to help him keep his spirits high.“The big frustration is that the rest of his body feels able and ready to go but because of the head injury, he can’t do anything.”Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onX via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
