dailyrecord.co.ukHamilton Accies boss John Rankin is still looking to add to his squad, despite signing striker Nikolay Todorov and winger Daire O’Connor in the last week.Rankin says it’s defence he needs to look at now, with Dylan McGowan possibly having broken a bone in his leg, adding to a season-ending injury to Fergus Owens.The Accies gaffer reckons he’s building a good squad, with a clear identity, and wants to continue that.He said: “I think we still need one or two to get to where we want to, to get the strength in the squad.“I think you can see we have plenty of attacking options now.
With Fergus’ injury that causes us a wee bit of an issue, so we’ve got our eye on lots of things, and hopefully we can press the button on them at some point.“It doesn’t look good for Dylan.
Ultimately it looks as if he may have broken a bone in his leg, but from Dylan’s point of view he took a penalty [against Stirling] with that broken leg.“He’s thinking he’s brave, we’re thinking he’s stupid.“Right now it’s not looking good, hopefully he bounces back quickly, because he’s an important character, member of the dressing room, and a leader.”Former Ayr United winger O’Connor, 27, joined from Glentoran on Tuesday and went straight into the squad for the 2-1 Premier Sports Cup defeat at home to Ross County, which has left Hamilton’s chances of progression hanging by a thread as they head to Raith Rovers on Saturday.Rankin was delighted to finally get his man and said: “I’m delighted.
I tried to get him last summer, he didn’t fancy playing in League One, now we’re a Championship club he was up for it.“He gives us that wee bit of disguise in the final third when he can use those penetrating runs or crosses, and he gives us that wee bit energy.
