Halsey is setting the record straight. On Thursday (June 9), the 27-year-old “Without Me” performer responded to a series of allegations made by their former nanny Ashley Funches.

According to court docs from People, Ashley has launched a lawsuit in which she claims she was fired from her position after requesting time off work for a medical procedure “that would require her to take a leave of absence from work.” Click inside to see Halsey’s response… The lawsuit also alleges that Ashley “worked around the clock on consecutive days with little to no day of rest” throughout the “majority of her employment,” began to complain about “her long working hours” and not being paid overtime wages in October 2021.

The docs also claim that she was paid a $5,000 one-time payment for her accumulated overtime, but was “offered no explanation as to how the lump sum payment compensated” her for “all of her overtime hours to date.” Halsey responded to the allegations in a formal statement released by their representative, who called Ashley‘s claims “baseless.” They added that the nanny was fired for “specific incidents,” alleging that the infant was left “unsupervised in an unsafe location while under the nanny’s care.” The singer also addressed Ashley‘s claims they had ignored her complaints about not being paid overtime. “Consequently, while Halsey is both saddened and disappointed by this turn of events, they feel it is important to refute these allegations publicly, as they are vocal advocate against ableism and for ethical working conditions,” the statement said. Halsey welcomed their first baby, Ender, with their partner Alev Aydin back in July 2021.
