Halifax warns it can only stop incorrect payments for 'limited' time

An angry Halifax customer trying to block a regular payment going out of their account has been sent a warning by the bank about incorrect payments.

The person got in touch with the bank over X as they had been trying to halt regular payments from their account to their local gym, which had recently shut down.

They explained: "My local gym became insolvent and closed. Contacted Halifax to stop regular card payments. Told only (defunct) merchant could do that.

Persisted and secured 12-month block only. Disappointing and unhelpful approach to my money." In response, the bank clarified the regulations regarding blocking payments.
