The health service described a 'Glastonbury-style' rush as people attempted to access the booking system, with 493,000 appointments reserved by midday - just five hours after the eligibility was expanded to include the first healthy adults under the age of 30.
The NHS said the system saw 2.5 times the number of appointments made this morning than the previous day - with more than 1,600 appointments booked per minute.
