The wife of the late Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers, Lili Orzac, has described the posthumous freedom he was given by his hometown just months after his passing as a "huge honour".Beloved broadcaster and chef Dave, originally from Cumbria's Barrow-in-Furness, sadly passed away aged 66 in February following a cancer diagnosis.
Recently, it was announced that Barrow Town Council had recognised his contributions in a special honour.In the award certificate made available to the public, Barrow Town Council declared: "We the Council posthumously grant the highest honour we can bestow to David, and is given in recognition of his service to the Barrow Community and the promotion of Civic Pride.
We loudly applaud your valuable and sterling service whilst thanking you most sincerely."Caught by surprise and brimming with pride, Dave's widow Lili accepted the recognition on behalf of her late husband during an interview with BBC Radio Cumbria.
She said: "I feel this is such a huge honour ... what a proud moment." Only days ago, approximately 20,000 well-wishers across the UK marked 'Dave Day', commemorating the late TV personality.
