A drugs target feared he was about to die when a gun was pointed at his head.John Irvine pulled the trigger and there was a loud bang – but the revolver turned out to be fake.He had demanded that Anthony O’Rourke hand over cocaine and cash, but the victim fled unhurt.Irvine, 28, was jailed for 27 months at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week.He admitted assault with intent to rob and possession of an imitation firearm and a knife.The attack happened outside the victim’s home in Motherwell on February 8.Jennifer McLaren, prosecuting, said O’Rourke arrived home in a taxi at 3am.Irvine, who was with another man and a woman, was waiting for him.McLaren said: “The accused, in possession of a knife, chased Mr O’Rourke up the stairs.
