Green Day kicked off their massive ‘Saviors‘ world tour last night (May 30) in Spain, where they played a stacked setlist.The band – comprised of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool – took over the stage at the O Son do Camino festival in Monte do Gozo, Spain for the first night of their tour.They opened with ‘The American Dream Is Killing Me’ – the lead single from their 14th studio album ‘Saviors’ – before diving into their 1994 LP ‘Dookie’, playing it in its entirety.
Armstrong and co. then treated the crowd to ‘Know Your Enemy’, ‘Dilemma’ and ‘Brain Stew’ as a short intermission before jumping into their 2004 album ‘American Idiot’ in its entirety.Green Day’s stage set up included a gigantic hand holding a red grenade heart, as seen on the album artwork for ‘American Idiot’ and many Marshall amps stacked on stage.
Both LPs – ‘Dookie’ and ‘American Idiot’ respectively – are celebrating their 30th and 20th anniversaries this year. The band previously promised that they would be playing both albums in full while on tour.Green Day are performing on stage at O Son Do Camiño in Spain.
