The Great British Bake Off lost one of its big characters last night as music teacher Rowan Williams was the one to go during bread week.
In a comedy put-down, Paul Hollywood described Rowan’s soda bread as “like eating lemon drizzle cake in a sandstorm”. And his tree-shaped showstopper was dubbed “all style and no substance”.
Reflecting on his exit, Rowan, 55, says: “I feel very content. I have had a wonderful time. It’s been exhausting, but very rewarding. “But I didn’t mind leaving.
I felt like I went out on a high because I really tried my best with the showstopper.” In terms of how the show has changed his life, Rowan says it introduced him to Twitter and Facebook.
