Great British Bake Off viewers were left saying the same thing on Tuesday night as the new series kicked off on Channel 4. Before people were introduced to this year's contestants, the show had a Barbie makeover with the opening telling viewers they were going to "Bake Off Land".
With the infamous tent now being bright pink, host Alison Hammond appeared on screen in a blonde wig and wearing an outfit to match the overall vibe.
However, people watching weren't too sure about the idea as many weren't thrilled with the parody. It wasn't long before viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts with one person saying: "Pointless Barbie start." Another added: "Holy sh**!
I wish I could un-see that Barbie-themed opening." Someone else highlighted: "I realise it’s because they missed it last year due to their filming schedule falling earlier in the summer, but what was the reason they thought a Barbie skit would be relevant and/or funny airing in September 2024, a full 14 months after its release date?" "I know it’s filmed quite a time in advance but Barbie was surely a dated reference even when they filmed it??" wrote another.
