For those unfamiliar, the Opry is a live country music broadcast founded in 1925 in Nashville, Tennessee. Today, these live performances are held at the Opry House, which was opened in 1972, and which itself has become an institution.
Regular Opry performers can be offered membership into the organization, considered one of the highest honors for a country musician.The live special will dive into the program's history, including a look back at the many country artists who got their start on the Opry stage.Opry 100 will stream live on NBC and Peacock on Wednesday, March 19 beginning at 8 p.m.
