Rangers hero Graeme Souness will make an emotional return to Ibrox in an advisory role, claims transfer insider Jim White. The 70-year-old visited his former club in the summer where he enjoyed a sit down with chief executive James Bisgrove and informal discussions were held over an official return to the side he starred for and managed in the the 1980s.
Souness was involved in the appointment of new Rangers boss Philippe Clement as he worked alongside Bisgrove and chairman John Bennett to offer advice during the process.
And a more permanent post looks to be on the cards after White, who has a close relationship with Souness and regularly hosts him on his talkSPORT show, claims that a return to the Scottish Premiership side is "increasingly likely" following talks on Friday.
Asked on the Go Radio Football Show about the prospect of Souness returning to Ibrox by host Paul Cooney, White said: "So I gather Paul. "I understand it is not increasingly likely that he is going to go back to the club in some kind of advisory role.
