Graeme Souness believes Manchester United have made a mistake in signing Donny van de Beek rather than strengthening other areas of the team.
United splashed out £40m on signing the midfielder from Ajax in August, but he has yet to start a game in the Premier League in the club's opening two matches of the season.
The Red Devils look set to bring in striker Edinson Cavani, but other than that it has been a frustrating transfer window in which they have failed to land any of their top targets, such as Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.
