Graeme Shinnie is no doubt he would have already lifted trophies at Aberdeen had Brendan Rodgers not been at Celtic. The experienced midfielder will be part of the Dons squad that travels to Hampden this Sunday, looking to see off Rangers and to get a shot at another cup final.
Shinnie has a Scottish Cup winners’ medal from his time at Inverness but his big regret was not adding to his collection in his first four years at Pittodrie.
Trips to Hampden were a regular thing under Derek McInnes but Shinnie and that team never managed to get over the line. Aberdeen did land the League Cup under McInnes but that was the year before Shinnie had arrived from Inverness.
His Dons team boasted the quality of Scott McKenna, Kenny McLean, Jonny Hayes and Ryan Christie but they lost two League Cup Finals and a Scottish Cup showcase – all to Celtic.
