The Amazon distribution centre that employs people from across Renfrewshire is to close.The online retail giant confirmed yesterday that its Gourock site in Inverclyde is to shut with a loss of 300 jobs.Stating its UK operation was being restructured, Amazon said it was starting a 45-day consultation with all staff.
It has been described as a “devastating” blow for neighbouring Inverclyde.Neil Bibby, West Scotland MSP, said: “This is devastating.
