Gordon Ramsay's 'overly complex' gameshow draws in disappointing ratings for BBC

Gordon Ramsay’s new primetime BBC1 gameshow got off to a bleak start on Wednesday with just 2.7 million viewers tuning in. A healthy 5.2 million had tuned in to The Repair Shop from 8pm immediately before Gordon Ramsay’s Bank Balance kicked off at 9pm, but half the audience switched off before even sampling the notoriously sweary chef as a gameshow host.

Of those who stayed, many wished they hadn’t, with one branding Ramsay a “charmless bully boy” and another moaning that the show was “an hour of my life I will never get back”.

The biggest complaint was that the format, dreamed up by a team at Ramsay’s own production company, was far too complicated.
