coronavirus deaths have reduced despite a larger amount of new cases being recorded in Scotland over recent days. The Scottish Government reported a spike in new infections on Sunday, with 208 new positive cases being recorded in 24 hours.

It is the highest daily increase in more than 17 weeks, which was when Scotland was still going through the peak of the pandemic.The last time more people tested positive for Covid-19 came on May 8, when there were 225 cases of infection identified.But the number of people dying from the virus has slowed down in recent weeks, despite the alarming rise in new infections.This trend continues across the UK, which recorded two deaths and an increase of 2,988 new cases on Sunday.
