Jordan Moreau The 2025 awards season has officially begun, with the Golden Globes kicking things off Sunday night. Unlike last year, which was dominated by “Oppenheimer,” prognosticators indicate that there is no clear frontrunner for the 2025 season.
In recent weeks, Universal’s “Wicked” has dominated social media, with fans attending singalong screenings over Christmas. Netflix’s “Emilia Perez” leads the Golden Globes field with 10 nods.
The two musicals are nominated alongside a competitive field rounded out by “Anora,” “Challengers,” “The Substance” and “A Real Pain” in the comedy or musical category.
In the drama race, A24’s sweeping epic “The Brutalist” leads with seven nods. It’s followed closely by Focus Features’ papal drama “Conclave,” with six nods.
