A West Lothian dad is the envy of superhero and sci-fi fans everywhere thanks to his impressive collection of movie memorabilia.What started as a unique gift from his wife has led to an obsession that’s thousands of pounds in the making for dad-of-two Richie Heaney.He has amassed an amazing collection of Marvel, DC and Star Wars figures that take pride of place in his West Lothian home.He reckons the figures are worth £16,000 – and his kids know that they are not for playing with!
Richie, a software developer, showed off his impressive display to the Courier, saying that he has always been a bit of a collector and a massive fan of superheroes, Star Wars and everything in between.
He explained: “I have been collecting for about four years now.“The whole collection is probably worth in the region of about £16,000, which does scream out loud that I’ve spent a heck of a lot of money!“The average price of one is around about £200 and some are more expensive than others.“I had always collected smaller figures and then I saw that there were 1:6 figures, but they were more expensive, obviously!“My wife Debbie actually bought the first figure for my Christmas and she found a good deal from Forbidden Planet and then it escalated from there!”Richie went on: “To date I have 87 figures in my collection.
No doubt I’ll buy more in the future too. Everyone is impressed when they see them.“The main comments are around how life-like they look and that I should make it into some sort of museum.”Richie, who has two kids, Lee (13) and Maddison (11), says that his collection features a massive range of characters, from Iron Man and Thor to Transformers, Luke Skywalker and Stormtroopers.And he said that his kids both know that dad’s toys are
