A Greater Manchester Police officer who was jailed after her dangerous driving left a teenage boy seriously injured has lost an appeal against her sentence.
Judges at the Court of Appeal in London yesterday - Thursday - dismissed Sarah De Meulemeester's appeal, despite legal submissions on her behalf.
They said they weren't 'persuaded' the sentence she received - two years and six months - was 'excessive'. The judge who passed the sentence made 'thoughtful and sensitive remarks' in his sentencing and had 'considered the proper sentence in this very difficult case conscientiously and carefully', they added.
The judges said: "He had heard all the evidence at the trial and was best placed to assess what sentence was most appropriate to reflect the seriousness of the offence." READ MORE: Their promises have been broken...
