Good Morning Britain viewers were left ‘heartbroken’ after watching The Bill actor Chris Ellison’s emotional interview about his aphasia battle.

Chris, best known to TV viewers as The Bill’s DCI Frank Burnside, appeared on the ITV morning show alongside his wife Anita - days after the pair went public following Bruce Willis’ announcement that he had the same speech debilitating illness.The 75 year old star, who was diagnosed with the condition in 2020 after suffering a severe stroke, sat alongside Anita as she opened up about the impact Chris’ aphasia has had on their life together.

Anita explained that they had become “hermits” as Chris felt embarrassed to go out, knowing he couldn’t reply to anyone speaking to him.
