Glasgow Willy Wonka mural appears by river in tribute to scandal-hit experience
dailyrecord.co.ukA mural paying tribute to the scandal-hit Willy Wonka experience has appeared in Glasgow.The artwork, by Ejek, surfaced on a wall on Clyde Street in the city centre today.
The artist, from Glasgow, said he "couldn't resist" creating the sketch, inspired by the failed event that took place at the Box Hub last month.
It features the Oompa Loompa actress who went viral and a depiction of 'The Unknown'. The event hit headlines across the world after families forked out £35 per ticket for a day of fun-filled experiences that promised to immerse kids into the world of Roald Dahl's famous book.But on arrival, parents and youngsters were met with a virtually empty warehouse housing a few cheap probs and AI-generated artwork, while embarrassed actors performed from a "gibberish" script.
Unimpressed Oompa Loompas handed out single jelly beans to kids as well as quarter cups of lemonade. The event was axed by organisers halfway through due to complaints from furious parents, some of whom even called police to the site.
