A CalMac Ferries worker helped pull injured people from a wrecked motor moments before it burst into flames. Gregory Kilcullen was on a bus heading to work with fellow colleagues when a car smashed into the back of their stationary vehicle on Glasgow’s Cowcaddens Road. The 52-year-old leapt into action and managed to free two trapped men from the badly damaged motor while helping a third with a nasty head wound.
Within seconds, smoke and flames began pouring from the bonnet of the stricken vehicle as emergency services began to arrive on Thursday morning.
All five occupants were treated at the scene by paramedics with four taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Their current conditions are not known.
The heroic actions of Gregory and his work colleagues were caught on camera. Speaking to the Daily Record, Gregory, who is from Glasgow but lives in Arran, told how first aid and fire training he completed at work “came in handy”.
