Glasgow-bound British Airways flight from London Heathrow lands early after mid-air medical emergency

A British Airways flight was forced to issue a mid-air alert after a sick passenger required urgent medical assistance. The 7.15am BA1472 service from London Heathrow to Glasgow Airport requested a priority landing on Monday, July 18, due to the on-board emergency.

The general emergency squawk signal 7700 was issued at around 8.08am, while the aircraft flew over Dumfries and Galloway. The flight safely touched down approximately 20 minutes later - around 15 minutes ahead of schedule.

The condition of the passenger is not currently known.A spokesperson for British Airways confirmed to the Daily Record that the pilot had issued the alert as a precaution due to a customer requiring medical treatment.
