Cerys Edgson, 12, has recently been diagnosed with a patent foramen ovale (PFO) - a hole between the left and right atria of the heart.
The youngster, from Cheadle, Stockport, was diagnosed with the hereditary condition after first suffering from extreme migraines in June last year.
Her mum Kirsty, 42, also has the same heart defect as her daughter. Kirsty had an operation to fix it when she was 26, after winning a scholarship place as a long-distance runner in the USA, suffering a stroke-like episode and the college funding the surgery.
