London borough he grew up in, nearly four years after his death. The legendary singer died aged 53 on Christmas Day back in 2016 and now the borough of Brent is getting a nine-metre high mural of him to remember him by.
Time Out reports British artist Dawn Mellor has been brought on board to create the mural of George in Kingsbury – the area close to where he grew up when he was little.It’s been commissioned as part of the Brent Biennial, after Brent was named London Borough of Culture for 2020 and is the first of 23 planned artwork pieces that will be a nod to the borough’s history, culture and people.
It’s not the first time a celebrity has been commemorated with a mural, with many of Amy Winehouse popping up in Camden following her death.
