George Clarke is known for championing great property design on any budget, but when he shared photos of his second home in Ibiza he was slammed with criticism.The architect and TV property expert's programmes include Old House, New Home where he helps people renovate their homes to suit their budget, but a social media post about his own building project caused controversy and divided fans.
Last summer, George, 50, travelled to Ibiza and stayed at his holiday home, proudly sharing a photo with fans of some eco-friendly window and door replacements, thanking the company that carried out the work.
He wrote: "Every single external window and door has been replaced to the highest specification.This is all part of my grand plan that is making the house as ecological as possible.
Air source heat pump and solar panels are going in next." But some commenters leapt on the post as one complained: "Owning a second home is the most ecologically damaging thing the middle classes can do." A second wrote: "Looks great of course but may be a little flash when everyone is struggling to keep a roof over their head." "Nice if you've got the money for it," added another person.
