George and Charlotte given last minute second role in Queen's funeral by parents Kate and William

Prince George and Princess Charlotte were given their second role of the day following discussions with their parents the Prince and Princess of Wales.The great grandchildren of Queen Elizabeth II had walked behind the coffin as it was taken into Westminster Abbey on Monday 19 September for the state funeral.

It was unknown whether George, nine, and his younger sister Charlotte, seven, would be taking up the same role during the procession to Windsor Castle from London as their names did not feature in the order of service.

However, for the second time of the day, the young royals took their places walking alongside their mum Kate Middleton, 40, and Queen Consort Camilla, 75, while his grandfather King Charles III, 73, and father Prince William, 40, walked behind the monarch's coffin.

During the state funeral, an emotional clip emerged showing George wipe away tears as he sat alongside his father William at Westminster Abbey.
