The boy at the centre of our campaign to change organ donation laws has been given a new bike after vandals wrecked his old one - thanks to the Mirror.
Max Johnson, 12, used his beloved £325 Carrera Vengeance mountain bike to get to and from school. We told how the back wheel had been stolen, and the back brakes and chain wrecked two weeks ago So we teamed up with Halfords to give Max a new, custom-built model.
And the near £800 raised by well-wishers after our story on the theft is now going to charity. It will help other transplant families at the Freeman hospital in Newcastle, where Max received his life-saving heart transplant in August, 2017.
