Gary Neville has called for a major change to the Premier League spending rules that led to Manchester United sanctioning the exit of some of their academy stars.

United sold several players this summer including Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Scott McTominay and Willy Kambwala, among a host of others, to generate tens of millions of pounds.

Jadon Sancho also left Old Trafford to sign for Chelsea on a loan deal with an obligation to buy next year. One of the final deals of United's summer transfer window saw McTominay complete a permanent move to Napoli.

The Reds agreed a €30.5million (£25.7million) deal with the Serie A club for the Scotland international to leave Old Trafford on a permanent basis.
