After being on the back foot for the entirety of the first half, United managed to edge ahead on 67 minutes thanks to a sublime Kobbie Mainoo strike, his first senior goal at Old Trafford.
Liverpool managed to retrieve a result thanks to Mohamed Salah’s penalty - following Luis Diaz’s 23rd-minute goal - but it was United who went away feeling as though they had the last laugh.
