Alan Titchmarsh has opened up on James O'Brien's Full Disclosure podcast about some truly touching moments from his past, specifically when he had to say farewell to his daughters for work trips. The much-loved 75 year old TV gardener, who appeared on the podcast back in July 2023, got candid about the struggle of juggling his demanding career and family commitments.
Recounting those difficult farewells with his children, he revealed: "It's not something I wanted but it was at a time in my career where I knew it had to be done. The girls would be sort of 10,11 that kind of age." Alan, who frequently had to leave his family behind due to work, delved into how it emotionally affected him: "I would go away on a Sunday evening and come back later in the weekend.
I do remember the heartbreaking thing of kissing one of them goodnight and thems saying 'will you be here in the morning? '." He shared the pain of having to tell his daughters he wouldn't be there when they woke up: "I knew I wouldn't and that was really hard of course.
I did say, I mean every weekend, it's not as if I'm in the army going away for three months or a year or whatever, so that was my excuse.", reports the Daily Record.
