Buoyed by the pop crossover success of the singles "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me", it became the US' best-selling album of 2009 and was certified diamond in the US. The album won four Grammy Awards, and Swift became the youngest Album of the Year winner.

manchestereveningnews.co.ukA gang violently stamped on two men near an Oldham tram stop in a vile homophobic attack. Police said a group of men started hurling homophobic abuse at the victims as they approached the Oldham Central Metrolink stop on Saturday evening (May 21).
The group - described by police as being made up of Asian men in their 20s - then launched an attack on them. They viciously stamped on the chest of one of the men and stamped on the head of the other.

Members of the gang were all wearing dark-coloured clothing at the time, GMP said. The incident is being treated as a hate crime.
