Outraged parents have blasted a plan to apply fees at a car park they use during the school run. Parents and carers of pupils who attend Saltburn Learning Campus have been using the car park at Saltburn Leisure Centre, owned by Saltburn's cricket club, for years without issue.

The convenient car park is filled with vehicles twice each weekday, as parents drop off and pick up their children. But Saltburn Cricket, Bowls and Tennis Club have reportedly had enough of non-members using the site and will be introducing parking fees in the coming weeks, Gazette Live reports.

And furious parents who use the car park daily have branded the announcement "disgusting", with claims that the club is putting ''profit before safety''.

They also argue that there are few parking spots elsewhere in the area to get the kids to school. The sports club rents the car park to Redcar and Cleveland Council's Saltburn Leisure Centre through a 125-year lease.
