Train operators across the UK are urging passengers not to travel at all today as Storm Eunice sweeps the country. Severe and widespread travel disruption is expected on the railways, with many operators running a reduced service due to the gale force winds.
Forecasters predict the storm will bring gusts of more than 90mph in some areas, with two rare red weather warnings in place across the south of England and Wales.
National Rail said many railway lines will be closed or running with speed restrictions throughout the whole day. Some lines may also be blocked due to trees falling down or flying debris being blown onto the tracks.
Transport for Wales has cancelled all train services. Across the rest of the railway network, most operators are warning passengers not to travel at all or to only make a journey if it is completely necessary.
