Nominations for the Golden Globe Awards 2025 have been announced today (9 December). The ceremony, which will take place on 5 January 2025, has been held annually since 1944 to honour artists and their work.
Awards are presented for excellence in international film and television. With separate “drama” and “musical or comedy” categories, the Globes are designed to nominate as many people and projects as possible, to ensure a varied mix of nominees and winners. READ MORE: R-rated festive film with 97% Rotten Tomatoes score dubbed ‘new holiday classic’ US actors Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut announced the shortlist live on Monday, which saw Emilia Perez – about a Mexican drug lord who changes gender – score 10 nominations and Grande land her first Golden Globe nod.
Among the nominations for best actors are Angelina Jolie, Kate Winslet, Timothee Chalamet and Daniel Craig. The new, yet already acclaimed, movie Wicked is up for Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, alongside gory body horror The Substance and the Challengers.
And movie sequel Dune Part Two has made it onto the nomination list for Best Motion Picture Drama. As well as a nomination for Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, The Substance director Coralie Fargeat is up for Best Director, and Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley have both been nominated for their roles in the film as leading and supporting actors.
