Frustrated Gartcairn boss says his side haven't had results their play deserves

Gartcairn have endured a frustrating start to life in the West of Scotland Premier Division – and boss Mick Dunlop says they haven’t had the results their play has deserved.But Dunlop knows they will need to start picking up wins soon in a tight league, especially at home.The Airdrie side lost 2-0 at home to Auchinleck Talbot on Saturday, following up a 1-0 midweek defeat at Hurlford United.With a visit to Cumnock on Saturday, before hosting Kirkintilloch Rob Roy next Wednesday, Dunlop wants points.He said: “It has been a frustrating start, if I’m being honest.“The first game against Largs Thistle is probably the poorest we’ve played, but drew 1-1, and on Tuesday night at Hurlford we played really well; I was really happy with how we competed.“They had chances, we had chances, and if I’m being honest, over the whole game a draw would probably have been the fair result – but to be fair, their guy cut in and smashed one into the opposite top corner.“I was pretty gutted for the players, but it was also good to know you’ve gone away to a difficult place and more than held your own.“On Saturday the first half was similar.

There wasn’t a lot in the game. We’ve hit the bar, they’ve had a shot where our goalie had a good save down low, so it was a toss-up at half-time which way it was going to go.“They got the first goal, and in these games that’s so critical – it gives them a lift and knocks us back.“They then got a penalty late on when we were trying to chase it a bit.“It has been a frustrating start, but I think when you’re looking at it, if you weren’t in games, or were being out-played, I would be a lot more worried.”Dunlop added: “There are things to take from it, but also things that we definitely need to improve on, at
