In the early noughties, the word WAG was thrown around like a dirty word. The glamorous women sported tiny skirts, huge sunglasses and even bigger hair as they supported their football star beaus.

Now the world of football WAGs has had its own makeover. The wives and girlfriends are swapping the spotlight for their studies and careers of their own.

Take England’s football captain Harry Kane, whose wife Katie Goodland is a sports science graduate turned fitness instructor.
