Joe Otterson TV Reporter The “Friday Night Lights” reboot series has landed at Peacock in a highly competitive situation, Variety has confirmed.

The series is now in development at the NBCUniversal streaming service. It was reported in November that a new version of the series was in the works, but it was not set up at a streaming service at that time.

The official logline for the new series states, “Following a devastating hurricane, a rag tag high school football team and their damaged, interim coach make an unlikely bid for a Texas High School State Championship becoming a beacon of light for their town.” Original series showrunner and executive producer Jason Katims is also leading the new series, along with original director and executive producer Peter Berg and original executive producer Brian Grazer.

Kristen Zolner will join as executive producer for Imagine Entertainment. Universal Television will serve as the studio. The original “Friday Night Lights” series aired for five seasons from 2006 to 2011, first on NBC and then on AT&T’s The 101 Network.
