Martin Charles Scorsese Italian (born November 17, 1942) is an American filmmaker and actor, whose career spans more than 50 years. Part of the New Hollywood wave of filmmaking, he is widely regarded as one of the most significant and influential filmmakers in cinematic history. Scorsese's body of work explores such themes as Italian-American identity, Catholic concepts of guilt and redemption? faith, machismo, modern crime, and gang conflict. Many of his films are also known for their depiction of violence and liberal use of profanity. In 1990, he founded The Film Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to film preservation, and in 2007 he founded the World Cinema Foundation. He is a recipient of the AFI Life Achievement Award for his contributions to the cinema, and has won an Academy Award, a Palme d'Or, Cannes Film Festival Best Director Award, Silver Lion, Grammy Award, Emmys, Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and Directors Guild of America Awards.

French actor Gaspard Ulliel dies aged 37 in skiing accident

Marvel series Moon Knight, has died at the age of 37 following a skiing accident.His family announced the news in a brief statement, which read: ‘Gaspard Ulliel died in a skiing accident on Wednesday.’According to news agency AFP, he was skiing in the Savoie region of the Alps on Tuesday at approximately 4pm local time when he collided with another skier at an intersection between two slopes and suffered a serious brain trauma.

He was hospitalised at the Grenoble University Hospital in a serious condition, after being found unconscious in the ski area of the Savoyard resort of La Rosiere, and died on Wednesday.An investigation into the accident is currently underway.

The César winner is set to star in Marvel’s upcoming Moon Knight series.‘French cinema is losing a huge talent, full of charm and energy,’ French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire posted in tribute on Twitter.

A popular star in France for almost 20 years, Ulliel’s career on screen began at the age of 11. He picked up two César newcomer nominations in 2003 and 2004, before winning his first for A Very Long Engagement the next year, at the country’s equivalent to the Oscars.
