Fremantle is taking Scrabble around the world. The gameshow version of the world-famous board game recently launched on The CW.
Fremantle has taken worldwide production and distribution rights on the Hasbro Entertainment, Mattel Television Studios and Lionsgate Alternative series, coming as TV versions of popular board games like Pictionary and Chess Masters are having a moment.
Fremantle’s acquisition of the production rights will enable the company to create a new take on the classic game for international territories, as well as selling it globally.
In the U.S., the Scrabble gameshow launched on The CW in October, hosted by Raven-Symoné. Scrabble continues to rank as one of the top series on The CW during the 2024/25 broadcast season, according to Fremantle.
