A mum from Wythenshawe who started taking classes to help her twin sons with their homework has built up the confidence and skills to aim for a new career.
Claire Lewis started learning through the Manchester Adult Education Service so that she could support her boys, aged 10, with maths - and enjoyed the experience so much that she went on to complete more courses and is now aspiring to train as a teaching assistant. “Being a single mum, I knew I had to go and learn what my sons are learning, so I could help them”, said Claire. “I started out by doing a family maths course and then Time Out for Parents, a family learning course.
