Fred stance on Manchester United future following Donny van de Beek transfer

United are on the verge of signing Van de Beek, 23, in a £40million deal from Ajax after he passed a medical in the Netherlands and agreed personal terms.

Van de Beek can play at the apex or base of midfield and, with Bruno Fernandes established as United's playmaker, the expectation is Van de Beek will occupy the number six role Fred played in at the end of last season.

Despite the imminent arrival of Van de Beek and speculation surrounding a move to Galatasaray, the MEN understands there has been no dialogue between Fred's representatives and United over.
