Michael Schneider Variety Editor at Large Cheers to Paramount+‘s “Frasier” revival, which has just landed a Season 2 order at the streamer.
The new “Frasier,” which stars Kelsey Grammer in the role he first made famous on “Cheers,” and then on the original “Frasier” (1993-2004), premiered in October with 10 episodes.
Last November, Grammer expressed his desire to keep the new “Frasier” going for as long as possible. “I think we should go to another 100 episodes at least,” he told Variety at the time. “There’s enough groundwork laid between these human beings; they are wonderful characters.
I want to see where they go. And I want to see what happens to Frasier.” CBS Studios produces “Frasier,” which will continue to shoot at Paramount Studios, in front of a live studio audience. “’Frasier’ is a love story, and I am very happy we will be allowed to continue it,” Grammer said in a statement. “I’m delighted that our partners at CBS Studios and Paramount+ are on board for another season, and I can’t wait for the fans to see what we have in store.” The new “Frasier” centers on Grammer’s titular character, 20 years after we last saw him preparing for a move to Chicago.
