Fraser Murray determined to have Kilmarnock resurgence after 'tough' season

Fraser Murray admits himself last season didn't go as planned.After winning Kilmarnock's player of the year in their Championship title-winning season things were looking great for the attacker heading into the club's return to the Scottish Premiership.But with just four league starts and a scattering of substitute appearances, it just wasn't to be for the 24-year-old.But now he's determined to put that right with a clean slate, and he picked up his first senior goal in over a year in a 3-0 win over Annan Athletic on Saturday.He said: “It’s been a long time coming, it was a good feeling.“I had a stop-start season last year, it was a tough year for me especially towards the end.“It’s now a fresh start, I’ve been training well and preparing hard in the off-season so I am pleased so far.“I can learn from last season, all the boys did amazing last year, especially Danny [Armstrong].“Hopefully I can be part of our success this season, I will keep pushing myself.“Because it was the end of the season I found the last six or so weeks tough.“To be honest the new season couldn’t come quick enough.“I just have to put it behind me and work hard, I’ve focused on getting my fitness up and I just need to see this as a new start.“All of the boys have been great with me, the manager and coaching staff too.“I am looking to kick-on now, I’m not holding back, I want to keep pushing forward.Murray admits the form of pal Armstrong last season is giving him hope that things can go right with hard work.He continued: “Danny is someone I can use as inspiration for sure, he was brilliant last pre-season and he took his chance well.“He played brilliant last season and won player of the year, so I can look at that and hopefully bring that into my
