Five people have been rushed to hospital after a car ploughed into a tree in East Kilbride last night. Emergency services raced to Crookedshields Road shortly before 9pm on Sunday.When fire crews arrived at the scene, they found that four people had been thrown from the vehicle.
A fifth person remained trapped inside, Glasgow Live reports.The firefighters were able to cut the stricken person from the car before they were then airlifted to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
The other four individuals were blue-lighted to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 8.56pm on Sunday, June 2 to reports of a road traffic collision on Crookedshields Road in East Kilbride.“Operations control mobilised two appliances to the scene and on arrival firefighters found that a car had collided with a tree.
Four casualties had been thrown from the vehicle, whilst one person remained trapped.“Firefighters removed the trapped casualty from the vehicle, and they were transferred to hospital by Air Ambulance.
