It could soon cost as much as £9 for a pint of beer in the UK next year as inflation continues to rise. The stark warning comes as inflation hit 10.1% on Wednesday (August 17) in a 40-year high.
In London, an average pint costs a national high of £5.50, according to finder.com, but the most expensive is up at £8 - and could rise to £9 by 2023.
Karl Chessell, of CGA, said: "The double whammy of cost and availability issues is piling huge pressure on operators' margins.
Combined with the growing cost-of-living crisis for consumers, it means trading conditions will be very tough over the remainder of 2022."
