A judge hit out at a first-class university student for 'throwing away' his life chances as he was jailed for leading police on a high speed chase.
Sameer Choudhry, 22, has been locked up following the pursuit through Newton Heath, when he reached speeds of 70mph in a 30mph zone and had to be stopped by a stinger to puncture his tyres.
Minshull Street Crown Court heard that Choudhry is enrolled on a computer science course at Wolverhampton university. His predicted grades estimate he could achieve a first class degree.
His lawyer said Choudhry, who was on a work placement in Manchester at the time of the offence in February, hopes to be able to resume his degree in September.
