Former Salford Red Devils captain Malcom Alker has died aged 45, the club has confirmed. The former professional rugby league player, from Wigan, spent his professional career with the Salford City Reds.
He was the team's captain for a number of years, first in 2000 aged just 21, later becoming the full-time captain. Details around his cause of death have not yet been confirmed.
