Peter MacDonald was one of the most prolific scorers at Scottish youth team level when he was coming through the ranks at Ibrox.

But he found his path to the first team blocked by multi-million pound talent such as Tore Andre Flo and Michael Mols.And he eventually gave up on his dream of pulling not the light blue jersey of his first team heroes after moving to St Johnstone where he spent a decade.

Ironically, it was when current Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst and some other top team stars were given a runout while he sat on the bench for the second string that made up his mind.
